Southwest Grasslands Workshop

Persistence, Prioritization, and a Bit of Help

“Taking care of a piece of land isn’t easy,” said Paul Ohlrogge of UW-Extension Iowa County.

“It takes persistence, prioritization, and a bit of help. Luckily there are many resources available for landowners in Southwest Wisconsin.”

To connect landowners to helpful information, a Grassland Management Workshop will be offered on Saturday, September 17 from 8:00am to 3:30pm at the Barneveld School.

“This part of the state has some incredible prairies, oaks, and grasslands that are important for wildlife, beauty, and forage,” shared Katie Abbott of Driftless Area Land Conservancy.

“We have experts lined up to cover a wide variety of topics, including prairie restoration, invasive species, prescribed burning, grazing, and many more. We’re also offering an afternoon field trip. As a past participant stated, these workshops provide “chances to learn, to meet like-minded people, and to get motivated.”
