After signing the conservation agreement this summer Ted Ross shared his joy in protecting his land as E.O. Wilson might have.
We at Driftless are quite confident that Wilson, the world renowned Harvard biologist and “father of biodiversity,” would have approved.
Ted has not only permanently protected one of the Driftless Area’s highest quality trout streams in the region, he was the first to allow the affirmative right to develop a backpacking trail on the land.
This new and exciting trail segment is the beginning of what Driftless Area Land Conservancy is currently calling the Driftless Trail – a 50+ mile backpacking trail that will link Blue Mounds, Governor Dodge and Tower Hill State Parks.
We’re incredibly grateful to Ted for protecting one of the most beautiful and unique pieces of land in Iowa County. As E.O. Wilson stated, and Ted clearly knows, “Nature holds the key to our aesthetic, intellectual, cognitive and even spiritual satisfaction.”
