DALC Awarded National Grant

Monarch butterflies, an important pollinator, are declining throughout North America due to loss of habitat, climate change and loss of milkweed populations.

To do our part to slow and reverse this decline, Driftless Area Land Conservancy, in partnership with our Southwest Grasslands Stream Conservation Area partners, recently submitted and received a $250,000 grant award through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to support monarch butterfly recovery.

This collaborative grant will support the work of DALC and our partner organizations to enhance monarch butterfly habitat by installing pollinator plants in existing and restored grasslands and prairies throughout Southwest Wisconsin.

If you would like to enhance your land with pollinator plants, please let us know by contacting Katie Abbot at katie@driftlessconservancy.org.
