DESCRIPTION:Explore the beauty of Wild Oaks\, just north of New Glarus! Journey into the valley to learn firsthand land stewardship and restoration in a variety of Wisconsin’s natural communities\, including oak savannas\, wetlands\, dry prairies\, and more. Workday activities here are just as diverse as the wildlife that calls this valley home. These activities include invasive species management\, prescribed fire\, trash and debris clean-up\, plant and animal surveys\, and numerous other fun and exciting projects. \nThe terrain at Wild Oaks can be steep and uneven. You are encouraged to work at your own pace and take plenty of breaks. DESCRIPTION:Interested in protecting the land you love? \nJoin Mississippi Valley Conservancy and Driftless Area Land Conservancy for an informational presentation on options for private landowners considering permanently protecting their property. The presentation will cover the basics of how both organizations prioritize protecting land in Richland County and provide an overview of the history of the land trust movement in Wisconsin. \nThe presentation will focus on an overview of conservation easements\, which is a tool both organizations use to permanently protect private land\, limiting development and subdivision rights in order to protect the natural land and water resources\, productive farmland\, or forest land of the property. The presentation will include the steps\, costs\, and process that private landowners can consider to protect their property\, along with time for a Q & A session with representatives from both organizations. \nNo registration required.
