DESCRIPTION:Explore the beauty of Wild Oaks\, just north of New Glarus! Journey into the valley to learn firsthand land stewardship and restoration in a variety of Wisconsin’s natural communities\, including oak savannas\, wetlands\, dry prairies\, and more. Workday activities here are just as diverse as the wildlife that calls this valley home. These activities include invasive species management\, prescribed fire\, trash and debris clean-up\, plant and animal surveys\, and numerous other fun and exciting projects. \nThe terrain at Wild Oaks can be steep and uneven. You are encouraged to work at your own pace and take plenty of breaks. Stay tuned for more events! \nEvery year\, thousands of sandhill cranes gather on the Lower Wisconsin River as they prepare to migrate south for the winter. Join us to get a prime view of this incredible natural spectacle from a bluff above the river\, and learn about the history and conservation of sandhill cranes from Jeb Barzen\, who directed the Field Ecology Department at the International Crane Foundation for many years. \nThis event will be held at a private residence about six miles east of Spring Green\, just off of Highway 60. The address will be provided closer to the event.
