Land Protection

At Driftless Area Land Conservancy, we work to conserve healthy and diverse habitats, clean water, productive and sustainable working lands, and scenic open spaces. The primary way we accomplish this is through conservation easements on private land. These voluntary legal agreements between land trusts and landowners permanently protect land from irresponsible development.

To date, Driftless Area Land Conservancy has permanently protected over 8,000 acres of private land in southwest Wisconsin with conservation easements. With your support, that number will continue to grow!

In addition to protecting private land, we own or help manage several publicly accessible Ambassador Properties. Here, visitors can enjoy the outdoors and build connections to the land and to each other.
