After graduating, Emilee moved to Denver, CO to complete a volunteer year at a community garden and craft workshop for people experiencing homelessness, then returned home to Wisconsin to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA Steward with Wild Rivers Conservancy on the St. Croix. She moved to Madison in 2020 to complete her master’s degree, and was able to match her studies with her passion for land conservation through a work-study internship with Gathering Waters, Wisconsin’s Alliance for Land Trusts.

Favorite thing about the Driftless Area

"I love the diverse landscapes of the Driftless – the way that row crops, pastures, prairies, wetlands, working forests, and wild bluffs can all exist on a single farm. It’s a place that fosters strong connections between humans and the natural world, and that makes it incredibly special."

Hobbies & Interests

Emilee enjoys gardening, hiking new trails, reading science fiction, writing science fiction, perfecting food preservation (please send a good pickle recipe if you have one!), and searching for her favorite native Wisconsin bumblebees.
