Giving Tuesday is Next Week! This year, our goal for Giving Tuesday isn't to raise a certain amount of money - it's to welcome new donors to our community. If you haven't donated to DALC before, please consider making your first gift to us next Tuesday, November 28th. No matter how big or small, every gift makes a difference for our beloved Driftless! And, to provide a special thank-you, board member Mark Hirsch will be donating a signed copy of his gorgeous book, That Tree, to everyone who makes their first gift to DALC on Giving Tuesday. So mark your calendars for this global day of generosity - it's going to be a great one!
DALC Hits the Airwaves
This month, we were delighted to be featured on the Perpetual Notion Machine show on WORT 89.9 FM. Journalist Catherine Garvens shared a story about Wild Oaks Preserve, DALC, the great work of our volunteers, and what makes the Driftless such a unique region. You can listen to it online here anytime!
The Legacy Society is Growing Back in August, we announced that board member Mark Mittelstadt had generously pledged to donate $10,000 in honor of up to ten new members of the Legacy Society. Now, we're excited to share that this challenge has been completed! Thank you so much to all our Legacy Society members for including DALC in your estate plans. You are ensuring a bright future for our wonderful Driftless region! Anyone is welcome to join the Legacy Society at any time. You can find more details here.

Notes From the Field "Everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts!" I really like this message from the homepage of the Giving Tuesday website. In a time of year that, for me at least, is all about raising money, it's good to be reminded that there are so many ways to give. Just by reading this e-news, you've generously given DALC the gift of your attention. Our volunteers have given the incredible gift of over 1,000 hours of stewardship work so far this year. Our partners give us the gift of their enthusiasm, creativity, and passion. Our entire community gives us the gift of hope for the future - the greatest gift of all! Next Tuesday, I hope you do send us a donation, because that makes all our work protecting land in the Driftless possible. But thank you as well for all your other acts of generosity, seen and unseen. You make the world, and the Driftless, a better place!
