THE DRIFTLESS TRAIL
Weaver Road Segment
The Hike
Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 1.2 mile loop
This 1.2 mile “lollipop loop” trail is located just north of Governor Dodge State Park. The first portion of the trail offers a spectacular view, but it is also exposed to strong winds when they occur. This trail offers a close look at rock formations and runs alongside a large pine relict – features that are unique to the Driftless Area.

Trail Notes
- This is a foot-only trail, to be used for hiking, running, or snowshoeing.
- There are no toilets or water available at this trail.
- Wild parsnip is common along the edge of the farm field. This plant contains photo-toxins that can cause a severe rash, so look up how to identify this plant and please avoid it.
- This trail is closed during the nine-day gun deer season, which is the week of Thanksgiving including both weekends.
- Pets are welcome but MUST remain on a leash
Location & Parking
- Six miles north of Dodgeville. From Highway 23, turn east on County ZZ for 1.8 miles, then north on Weaver Road. The trailhead is on the northwest corner of this junction.
- A strip of mowed grass connecting Weaver Road and County ZZ accommodates 3-4 vehicles. If that is full, park on the east shoulder of Weaver Road near the trailhead.
